The Air and Water Show is coming up this weekend and here are some interesting facts about the show's cost. Did you know the first Air and Water Show began in 1959 and had a budget of $88? Back then there were water skiers, water ballet and a watermelon eating contest. Of course, the show has now evolved into a huge multi-day event that attracts 1.5 million spectators and according to reports, it costs more than $700,000 to put on. Taxpayers foot some of the bill and most is taken care of by corporate sponsors. Federal tax dollars cover the military training and performers. I found this all to be super interesting.
