Lizzo is staying off of Twitter for a while.
Weâre only one week into the new year, and the âGood As Hellâ musician has already announced sheâs taking a break from social media thanks to her detractors. "Yeah I canât do this Twitter sât no more.. too many trolls," Lizzo tweeted late last night (January 5). "Iâll be back when I feel like it."
Itâs anyoneâs guess what exactly was the final straw for the pop star, who has been onslaughted with hate from Twitter trolls recently for everything from her choice of attire (i.e. her chaps-esque ensemble at the Lakers game) to her body size.
As we previously reported, Lizzoâs last Twitter spat was in December with Dr. Boyce Watkins, who claimed her popularity was due to the âobesity epidemic in America.â
"Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are ⊠Unfortunately, Many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease,â he added, to which the âTruth Hurtsâ vocalist answered with a vicious clapback.
âIâm popular because I write good songs and Iâm talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you," she wrote. "Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Hereâs the attention you ordered đ."
Despite the amount of hate she's received, Lizzo's fans are making sure she knows their love is louder. "Please know for every troll, there are so many genuine fans here to show love and support. We've got your back QUEEN! Hope you come back to us soon!â one fan tweeted.
