Kim Kardashian opened up about her 2016 Paris robbery.
The reality star had a tearful reaction looking back at the terrifying incident on a new season of Netflix's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman.
Speaking with David Letterman, Kardashian said sheโd โpacked all my jewelryโ for Paris fashion week in October 2016, something she admits sheโd โnever done before.โ A week before her trip abroad, husband Kanye West had also gifted her a ring, which she flaunted on social media.
Hours before the robbery, Kardashian remembers conversing with friends over lunch. โWe had lunch that day and said, โIf you guys were robbed, what would you do? Would you just give them the stuff?'โ she recalled. โWhy we had this conversation, it was so wild. I said, โI would say take everything, just take everything, nothing is important.'โ
Kim, who was also visited by West before he left to resume his tour, said her sister Kourtney Kardashian went to a club with a friend while she stayed at the hotel. Kim apparently felt safe enough to tell their only security guard to go with the duo while she remained alone in her room.
It wasnโt until around 3 a.m. that Kim heard โstomping up the stairs,โ and felt โimmediate panicโ when she realized it wasnโt Kourtney and her friend. โI knew someone was there, like, someone was there to get me. You feel it,โ she recalled.
Being in France, Kim had trouble calling 911, and thatโs when she says the robbers, dressed as โpolicemen wearing masks,โ took away her phone and demanded โthe ring.โ
At this point in the interview, Kim โ who had been wearing a robe with nothing underneath when the robbery happened โ tearfully remembers thinking she was going to be assaulted.
โI was like, โOK, this is the time Iโm gonna get raped. Like deal, this is gonna happen, just prepare yourself,'โ she said. โSo, I did and then โ I donโt know why Iโm crying, Iโve talked about this before โ and then he tied me up with handcuffs and zip-ties and then duct tape and duct-taped my mouth and my eyes.โ
โI kept on thinking about Kourtney, I kept on thinking, like, sheโs gonna come home and Iโm gonna be dead in the room and sheโs gonna be traumatized for the rest of her life,โ she added.
The incident made Kim โreally paranoidโ of other people for a year after. Since then, she says she's "totally fine," adding that she now sleeps with a โhalf dozenโ security guards outside her home.
