Residents of Chicago could get a new round of stimulus payments this month. Some sources — including Spiritual World and The U.S. Sun — have reported a list of 10 cities and states that are giving out stimulus payments beginning this month. Here’s the list:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Florida
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Newark, New Jersey
  • New York
  • Durham, North Carolina
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Vermont

The U.S. Sun reports that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot passed a budget in October to include funds for a guaranteed basic income pilot program, and payments are expected to begin in 2022. Lightfoot explained to WTTW in October 2021:

“Having extra income consistently for some time can make the difference for the working poor who are living on the cusp of financial ruin. That’s why $35 million of the $157 million that we’re investing in family assistance programs will fund the largest pilot program in the country, providing $500 a month to 5000 families with cash assistance to lift them up out of poverty.”

Heading into 2022, Americans can get thousands of dollars as part of the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit, which is “allowed for a percentage of work-related expenses that a taxpayer incurs for the care of qualifying persons to enable the taxpayer to work or look for work,” according to the IRS.
