The new virtual, #SaferAtHome American Idol resumes this Sunday and Katy Perry couldnât be prouder of the show. As fans are well aware, Idol had to halt production amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but will return this Sunday, April 26, virtually from Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and all of the contestantsâ respective homes!
âThese dreams are all real for these kids,â Katy shared on-air with Seacrest on Friday, April 24. âThis is their actual one shot that theyâre getting ⊠and I think we put together something amazing so far. Weâre going to continue to help nurture their dreams and ⊠Iâm really proud of this show,â she added. â[Of] the production, the producers ⊠no offense, itâs not just like a show on Zoom.â
Katy explained that each contestant will have an equal opportunity too, all using the same equipment, microphones, etc. from home.
And Perry herself will be joining the show from home â or maybe even her car given itâs her safe place amid quarantine. The âNever Worn Whiteâ singer hilariously told Seacrest she was calling in from her car parked outside her house to find some peace and quiet.
âIâm just taking it one day at a time and I have a great partner Iâm got my family around me,â Perry shared of her social-distancing experience. âIâm quarantining with my nieces and [family] ⊠weâre all being very gentle with each other because we know itâs a stressful time, but I think weâll look back at this time and weâll have grown. ⊠Iâm literally sitting in a car right now,â she said. âItâs the only place I can go where I for certain wonât be interrupted â itâs like my little office and I know other families are going through the same thing.â
The songstress is also navigating her first pregnancy during this challenging time.
âItâs going to be interesting,â she admitted. âEvery week that passes, it doesnât necessarily get better. My thought is like, âOK, well, letâs review my options once again; whatâs going on?â Iâm grateful Iâm not due for a little while, itâs not tomorrow,â she shared. âIf I was having to give birth this week in a hospital it would be interesting, it would be nerve-racking.â
