Dealing with intellectual property is always tricky. What is considered "inspiring" as opposed to flat out stealing? This is something that happens in the hip hop industry all the time. In the latest episode of Swagger Jacking, Childish Gambino is catching heating for his song 'This Is America,' an brutally honest, well put telling of America in 2018. If you haven't heard it or seen the video, check it out below.
Very impressive however the audio shockingly resembles a way less known rapper by the name of Jase Harley and his 2016 song 'American Pharaoh.'
Let's be honest, the structure of both songs are awkwardly similar and the message is the exact same. However, Jase Harley took to Instagram to let fans know that he doesn't want the similarities to "dilute the message" both he and Childish Gambino are trying to convey. Do you think it was smart of him to do this or should he go get his money?
