Massive Winter Storm is Headed Towards Chicago

A huge winter storm is making it's way towards Chicago on Monday:

The Chicago area could see its biggest snowfall of the season in the next two days, and a winter storm warning has been issued for most of the region ahead of that system’s arrival.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, will take effect Monday afternoon in numerous locations, and will run through Tuesday evening.

In DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle, Kendall and Grundy counties, the warning will take effect at 1 p.m. Monday and will run through noon on Tuesday.

According to current forecast models, those areas could see 5-to-8 inches of snow, with locally heavier totals possible. Travel conditions could be hazardous due to heavy snowfall Monday evening, and wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour could make conditions even more dangerous.

In McHenry County, the warning will go into effect at 4 p.m. Monday and will expire at noon Tuesday.

In Lake, DuPage, Cook and Will counties, the warning will go into effect at 4 p.m. Monday, and will expire at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Yikes! Be careful!
