Just hours ago, a small plane made an emergency landing on South Lakeshore Drive just around 38th Street. The plane was going from Kenosha, Wisconsin to Cleveland, Ohio leaving an airshow when the pilot started experiencing engine problems. The pilot then contacted Air Traffic Control at Midway Airport to which they advised him to land the plane on Lakeshore. It's been reported that not only was the landing success--no injuries, accidents, etc.--but the pilot also flew the plane under the 35th Street footbridge before touching the ground. Do you understand how skillful you have to be to pull something like this off? Speaking to today's events, 4th ward alderman Sophia King stated, "If the [worst] thing we have to say about today is that we held up traffic, it's a wonderful day." She's not lying. Full story below.
