Here's a rundown of everything you need to know for Veterans Day!
National Veterans Day Deals
- Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free meal from a select menu at participating locations.
- Biscuit Belly: Veterans can eat free with the choice of Bacon Egg & Cheese, Sausage Egg & Cheese or Chicken Biscuit Sandwich and a free hot drip coffee or fountain drink.
- Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free order of 10 boneless winds with valid ID.
- Chick-Fil-A: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free breakfast chicken biscuit or lunch/dinner original chicken sandwich with valid ID.
- Chicken Salad Chick: Veterans and active duty military receive a free chick meal + drink (includes scoop or sandwich, plus 1 scoop, side item, or cup of soup + regular fountain drink)
- Dunkin’: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free donut of choice.
- Kolache Factory: Veterans and active duty military members can receive one free kolache of any cand and one free cup of freshly brewed Katz coffee, any size, with valid ID.
- Krispy Kreme: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free coffee and donut at all locations.
- Starbucks: Veterans, active duty military members and spouses can receive a free 12 ounce drip coffee, hot or cold.
- IKEA: From Nov. 10-22, veterans and active duty military members with a valid ID can receive 15% off in-store home furnishing items.
- Target: From Oct 29 through Nov. 11, all active duty military members, veterans and their families can receive 10% off — can be used on two separate transactions and applies to all in-basket items, online and in-store.
Events & Ceremonies
Hampton
The annual Veterans Day parade in Hampton will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 on Mellen Street in Phoebus and proceed to Continental Park on the grounds of Fort Monroe. The parade will kick off a day of activities and events honoring veterans. The free celebration will run until 4 p.m. Click here for a schedule and other details.
Norfolk
Residents can honor the service and sacrifice of veterans during the annual Veterans Day Ceremony, scheduled to take place Monday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at MacArthur Memorial. There will be a wreath laying ceremony, and Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Ph.D., will provide remarks.
MacArthur Memorial will be open on Veterans Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission.
Portsmouth
The City of Portsmouth will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at the High Street Landing flag pole starting at 11 a.m. The rain location will be at the City Council Chamber.
Virginia Beach
The annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue. The event will conclude with the formal ceremony at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
