You can now take a tour of the Chicago River...from your couch!
Chicago Detours, which has hosted virtual tours so people can stay at home amid the pandemic, has now created a tour of the Chicago River. Viewers will learn about the city’s history and culture while getting to see the river via Google Streetview — while sitting at home, of course.
Amanda Scotese, executive director of Chicago Detours, will narrate the 50-minute tour, telling viewers about the city’s roots in transportation and about famous and overlooked buildings along the river.
Chicago Detours hosts similar tours in person, though it’s had to cut those events due to the pandemic.
The company is also hosting a series of free virtual events, like tours of neighborhoods and conversations about the city’s history.
Cool idea! The first boat tour is set for May 9th. You can register HERE.
