This Looney Tunes Character Will Not Be In The 'Space Jam' Sequel

It has been 25 years since the release of 'Space Jam' starring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes characters. However one of the original cartoon stars, Pepe Le Pew, will not be in the sequel. NYT columnist, Charles M. Blow, who wrote, "some of the first cartoons I can remember included Pepé Le Pew, who normalized rape culture." He elaborated this claim on social media saying that the character “added to rape culture.”

Not only has he been removed from the upcoming 'Space Jam' movie, but Warner Bros. will not feature him in any future projects. They made a similar decision last year with Elmer J. Fudd, a cartoon hunter who carries a rifle, deciding to not depict him with any guns in future cartoons. This was in response to the rise of gun violence in the United States.
