314 Day Becomes A Beacon Of Hope for St. Louisans

March 14th is Pi Day across the world, but for St. Louis it has taken on a different meaning. 314 Day, in honor of the STL area code, has become an unofficial holiday for the city. For years, it is a day of revelry and celebrating St. Louis culture.

The global pandemic has changed a lot of those practices, but the local community is doing the best they can. Local organizer Datiana Guerrero told KMOV4 that, "Often times we celebrate the city but what we are doing is celebrating the people and also the city but it’s the people who make the city of St. Louis so great...And often times that isn't televised. All of the joy, all of the creatives, and the spaces that are being created in St. Louis."

What was once a day is now a weeklong celebration to celebrate all things St. Louis and support local businesses. While still an unofficial holiday, Congresswoman Cori Bush took to Twitter to support the initiative.
