Cleveland Leadership Responds To The Rise In Crime

"Cleveland is a reflection of what's going on throughout the country."

Earlier today, the city of Cleveland held a press conference on public safety led by Mayor Frank Jackson along with Chief of Police Calvin Williams, and Director of Public Safety Karrie Howard.

Today's briefing is in response to the recent rise in homicides and carjackings in the city. Jackson noted that there have been 47 homicides this year, 12 more than this exact time last year.

This comes as the jury is still deliberating the trial of Derek Chauvin over the death of George Floyd. Cities are already preparing for public outcry depending on the results of the case.
