Chicago is getting the biggest “thank you” for being a friend… A Golden Girls-themed convention is coming to the Windy City this spring, and it’ll be perfect for fans of the iconic TV show.
Golden Girls first premiered in 1985, and it remains a beloved series nearly three decades after ending its run in 1992. The show is about “four previously married women (who) live together in Miami, sharing their various experiences together and enjoying themselves despite hard times,” its IMDb synopsis reads. It famously stars Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo, Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux, Bea Arthur as Dorothy Zbornak, and Betty White as Rose Nylund.
Golden-Con: Thank You For Being a Fan is set for Chicago’s Northalsted Neighborhood from April 22 through 24. Tickets will go on sale in early 2022. “Fans and Super-Fans are gathering together for a fun-filled weekend to celebrate TV’s most revered comedy with laughter, and friendship, and perhaps some cheesecake,” organizers say. “Events for the Fan Convention include, a ‘Greatest Gift’ Vendor’s Market, the live parody shows from Hell in a Handbag Theater Company, (and more)... Additional Events, Performers, and special guest appearances will be announced in the months and weeks leading up to the convention.”
