Christmas caroling might give you goosebumps in one Illinois household. The family is going viral on TikTok for their applause-worthy rendition of “Carol of the Bells.” TikTok user @paulnamber said Christmas caroling at their in-law’s house is “so very sweet! I love them all!!!” The caption reads: “When the family u married into is all singers and theater folks, u get this at Christmas.” Naturally, the Christmas carol has garnered millions of likes and views, and tens of thousands of comments. A part 2 video shows the family singing “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

Ann Culp, one of the family members, told St. Louis-based KSDK: “Our dad [a 92-year-old singer] requested it. He's 92 so we were glad to have them there. He sings and my aunt is a music teacher. She still gives voice and piano lessons at 91.”

The Edwardsville family also explained to KSDK that they haven’t all gathered together in three years, citing the the COVID-19 pandemic and other family tragedies. Family members explained that they want to use the attention to their Christmas carol to bring awareness to organ donation. Culp’s son was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2018 — weeks after another relative died in a car crash caused by an impaired driver — and his kidney was used to save a cousin’s husband who sings in the video. That relative had been waiting for a kidney for three years. Culp said the family is “grateful for the gift of organ donation,” and KSDK pointed people to organdonor.gov for more information.
