It’s no surprise that Chicago has tons of great restaurants to choose from, and some of them are among the best in the whole country. Yelp shared its top 100 U.S. restaurants of 2022. The ninth-annual list includes dining options indoors, on patios, and those with takeout and delivery options. Here’s how Yelp did it:

“To create Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants list, we first reached out to Yelpers for their favorite dining spots. Then, we ranked each by total number of submissions, ratings, reviews, and geographic representation, among other factors.”

So, which Chicago restaurants make the list? Here are the restaurants, how they rank, and something Yelp says customers should know about them:

No. 4: Oriole

“Featuring 2 Michelin stars, this intimate fine-dining restaurant is hidden down a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it street in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. Owner and executive chef Noah Sandoval presents a multi-course tasting menu that changes with the seasons (and his own impulses). We can’t tell you what to order—but we can say you’ll love the elegant dining room, and the thoughtfully selected wine pairings curated by sommelier Aaron McManus.

No. 25: 016 Restaurant & Sandwich Shop

“016 is the area code for Leskovac, Serbia, home of the largest grilled-meats festival in the world, and inspiration for the menu at this Chicago sandwich shop. The food is prepared in traditional Serbian style, using local Midwest ingredients. Order a popular Chievapi—a grilled skinless beef sausage—with one of the imported Serbian beers or traditional brandy (aka Rakia).”
