Chicago Beaches Are Officially Open

If this doesn't confirm that summertime Chi has officially commenced, I'm not sure what else will.

It seems like forever since it's been warm enough for us to go out and enjoy a nice day on the beach. Granted, we did have a couple of random 80-degree days in March and April. But, the beaches were still closed.

TimeOut says: The city’s 22 beaches open for the season every year on the Friday before Memorial Day, marking the start of one of Chicagoans’ favorite pastimes: swimming in frigid Lake Michigan waters.

FYI: Before swimming, remember to check the colored flag notification system posted at each beach—green means swimming is permitted, yellow means caution is advised and red means swimming is not permitted—or visit the Chicago Park District’s website to read through daily beach advisories and swimming conditions.

Have fun this weekend, and while you're at the beach turn us up all day long!
