At this point, major department stores have to be spitting in our faces. I seems like we can't go a good six months without a household name retailer releasing something completely out of line. Between "obliviously" making t-shirts with blatantly racist designs and obviously sexist practices, this one is pretty up there. Forever 21 is currently facing backlash as they were apparently placing Atkins diet bars in plus-sized orders. Many took to Twitter expressing their outrage. The worst part is this was done purposefully. Per Jezebel:
From time to time, Forever 21 surprises our customers with free test products from third parties in their e-commerce orders. The freebie items in question were included in all online orders, across all sizes and categories, for a limited time and have since been removed. This was an oversight on our part and we sincerely apologize for any offense this may have caused to our customers, as this was not our intention in any way.
Now, some may claim that it's good of them that they're owning up to their mistake but it seems unprofessional that this went all the way up the ladder without anyone thinking twice about how this may affect their customers purchasing plus-sized garments. Full story here via Jezebel.
