On Friday, Mayor Lightfoot announced an initiative that will give restaurants a platform to build permanent outdoor dining area.
The new program, called Chicago Alfresco, is a continuation of the city supporting local businesses during the Pandemic.
Chicago Alfresco's goal is to do away with constructions cones and other makeshift ways of marking outside dining areas, and turning them into actual structures that can stand the rest of time.
