Chicago Street Vendors Unite To Purchase Building

I came across this amazing story from the Chicago Tribune.

Carmen Nava and her husband have been selling tamales on the street for 24 years. They risked getting ticketed, arrested and having their equipment confiscated.

Then in 2015, when food carts became legal, they rented a North Lawndale commercial kitchen to prepare their food before hitting the streets.

Now with the backing of their neighborhood, the couple have been able to purchase that same commercial kitchen!
