Anthony Mackie is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2025 -- but not as the Falcon.
He'll be stepping into the role of Captain America, after Chris Evans' (Steve Rogers) departure in Avengers: Endgame.
Can't wait until the release? Here's what we know about the movie so far, according to PEOPLE:
- Captain America: Brave New World picks up where 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off with Wilson learning how to carry the weight of the Captain America mantle.
- Wilson has to fight The Leader, played by Nelson, an evil mastermind originated by Stan Lee in the comics.
- The movie is directed by Julius Onah, who is new to the Marvel universe. His previous work includes 2015’s The Girl Is In Trouble and 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox.
- Mackie has described how coming back to work on the fourth Captain America — after being introduced 10 years ago in the second, Captain America: The Winter Soldier — has been a full circle moment for him. “So in that regard, it was really emotional to think how far my character has come and where he is now after the 10 years that I’ve been in the MCU.”
- Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
