Did you watch the premiere of the new XFL last weekend?
The reboot of the Vince McMahon (founder of the WWE) owned league which was around for one season back in 2000, was watched by 3.3 million viewers on Saturday night. ABC announced that viewership peaked toward the end of the broadcast of the DC Defenders vs. Seattle Dragons. My wife and I caught a few minutes of the Houston vs. LA game, but we got bored about 10 minutes in and switch on Netflix.
McMahon shouldn't get to excited though, according to NBC Sports, last year, the first week of the Alliance of American Football, another new start up league trying to take a piece of the American football market, had an audience of 2.9 million and then was shut down a little over a month later.
